May 1, 2013 - Familiar Stranger
Neither are really memorable. But I lean to Tales.
Not as much fun as last issue
It isn't a bad one, but the fight scenes are starting to creep over the story of the book. It seems like three quarters of the book is fighting, and then it resolves most of the comic in three pages of calm talking.
But when he breaks through the yellow window - go back and check it out if you missed that - that probably made up for the thin fights before that.
I am not sure if I like this new 'surprise' in Jillian. It kinda erases some of the previous mess, but it seems too clean.
But sadly, this whole Asian connection is too weak. It was much better in the Ninjak books earlier - and the Bloodshot one, too. It just seems too hollow - and disconnected - even from itself.
And a quick close.
How do you end an attack by aliens? Send them back in space, of course. The ultimate terrible way to end a terrible story is in a terrible manner. The gods re-attack the insanity, and get rid of it. And Attuma runs back, tail between his legs. Of course, Sub-Mariner 'knew' it had to be from space. Of course.
The Hulk story is fair. It starts out well. Man, I like those character development things. It makes sense to me to follow Bruce Banner more. He is the heart of the comic. And I know I pounded Gil last month. This is better. But still not what I would call great.
I wished Hulk would have fought him more - but that's probably in store for the next month.
