March 16, 2013 - Again.
FF is better.
The cover wrecks it again.
This story is a mess of what in the world is happening. Not certain if it retro-fits the story back to cover - or if it was entirely intended to wrap all of this back around again. But I don't even have an interest to go back and look again.
So much of all of the stories at this point are so bad. They are retreading everything back into the stories - and are really putting forth the effort to include all of these future stories.
But they are simply shells. Even one line pokes fun at Magnus. Are you with them? Against? Going to change again? When it lost track of this line, the line lost its soul.
The annuals usually are tires.
But what a great idea to bring the ORIGINAL Human Torch out of mothballs to face Johnny! Sure - seeing Lockjaw jump in and out with him is a little more than convenient, and the Mad Thinker subplot with the Quasimodo head inside a jar is bad, but it really is NOT as bad as that description makes it out to be.
Why the comic didn't bring him back sooner than this is really beyond me. It also places the original Torch as older than the FF - but they are careful to restate that he is an android. The real gem in here is the restating of the original origin of the Torch. Even as a retro-fit, it's fine. Of course, readers at the time could treat themselves to the Hulk-Thing battle. Man, was the art BAD then.
