July 27, 2013 - From the depths of the past
But X-O is still better here.
X-O versus the deep
Not a terrible issue - yet again. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop on a few of these comics - and I am coming to a realization that it may have been much more about the trying times that the problems in the writing. Certainly THIS writing was much better than nearly all of the garbage being published at the end of the Valiant run. It isn't the same stuff, but it isn't bad either. At least in this case.
It follows most of Donovan's human characteristics - and wraps them up inside of the character of the armor - and that is what makes for a most interesting read.
I get the feeling that if THIS stuff were written around the newest reboot, it might have done fairly well, too.
How many guest stars CAN WE FIT?
There must be something in some diagram of crazy comic book writing convention that decrees that every certain number of issues, heroes must throw everything of good sense out the window, and just attack each other. ALMOST battling to hurt one another. And here's another one.
At least it has SOME sort of plausibility to it with Doom impersonating Daredevil in his own book. Of course, I can't read it to be certain, but...
Why in the world would everyone go on the attack against each other AGAIN?
In defense of it, Spidey has some very funny lines in the comic - and they are all out there. And Ben makes a lot of fun of Thor's commentary, as well.
