December 27, 2013 - A bold move into the future.
To a new Image
It took some serious boldness to really lay an homage down to its biggest rival at the start of its origins. For Doctor Tomorrow to not pay reverence to Image would have been more strange - but this laying an entire comic down to really play up one of the strongest rivals - and a place that I loved to hate. Most assuredly a place that led to the death of Valiant initially - and to most of the comics industry at the time - pretty cool. And the comic also threw in a nice turn to really flip the set over - and try to tell the story from the newer point of view - pretty cool.
I am rather certain that either the comic will bring back his grandson in his own shoes - or just erase most of this timestream from existence. It almost has, already. But nice work on this one.
The crystallizing of a new enemy
Interesting take on the invention of adamantium. Its creation came through the Avengers entire inability to correct or destroy any part of the piece of metal. Strange that it brought Simon Williams back into the picture - but I like him - so hopefully it will lead to some more mentions through some of the future.
I always loved the villain revelation at the end of the comic - but this one - where the ENTIRE comic is just a lead-in - sometimes that feels like a waste. At least this one really set up the origin of the super-metal, adamantium.
I remembered as a kid wondering if it were real in any sense. Cool that they sent Black Panther out of the country for the time being - and east to see that the comic may actually bring him around to combat it - knowing that he has a store of vibranium - and could be the source of defeating it. Great idea - and a decent comic, too.
