December 9, 2013 - For my NEXT trick...
This was actually decent.
Now, I am not certain why the comic decided to go ahead - and KILL everyone.
Wait. Yes, I am. I know.
But the comic started off on the not at all thinking kill fest that so many of these comics have plodded along. And then took a sharp turn.
The comic got better. And not just a little. It really took a turn for the better.
Okay, forget the art. It isn't as sharp. And way too many references to the 'let's live forever" and even something that sounded like "Yo, JOE!" in my head. But frankly, the story was decent. Fun, even. MOG becomes some crazed loon bent on killing everyone - sons included. To take on his family.
But the turn at the end of the comic - that may have made much of what came before more worth it. I would read up to this - just for this. Not bad at all.
Somehow, the changes don't really change
And very few are even affected at all by Hawkeye's willingness to just leap into the abandoned persona - and join Back Widow, too. At least we are seeing all of them on the cover somehow.
The issue also adds a long-lost Barton brother who popped in for this issue - and then is unceremoniously executed by the end of the comic. Another wonderful comic trick to flip over a new character. Hooray! He's here! Oh no. He's dead.
He popped up MUCH later in a few comics - but for now, he remained true until the end.
The comic was fair - but flipped around too quickly.
