May 23, 2013 - Back to the beginnings.
Both are good, but I lean - SLIGHTLY toward Turok.
Way back to Red.
This may be the first Red story that I have read in - quite a while - that I really liked. I also liked how they brought a few things - like Andy's Dad - back into the story. Even though that whole line was REALLY bad - and reminded me of fighting those crazed aliens from before. This one doesn't seem too bad.
Of course, it feels like the two separate stories are never FULLY connected to each other. Is it IN the Lost land? Is it NOT?
Make up the minds - or don't. If the stories are more compelling - like this - I am okay. Little heavy handed story - the continued remindings of how Andy lost his Dad - and then - WHAT! Okay, though.
The telling isn't getting better, but stories are.
I like the change in this comic now. It still isn't what I would call masterful, but it has come a great distance in the changes. The tale starts building up toward the major changes that will affect the book right up until its partial demise.
The dialogue - and mess of changes in the descriptions of the ruby and etc are kinda bad - but I have to remember that this was written in the completely different era. The story is rather good. Changes are happening, and Factor X will play the integral role up through the eventual demise and return of X. It feels like there is now a longer plan in the books. That someone is finally willing to start catching up with some of the really problematic sections of the Sixties - and finally switch over to the Bronze in this book.
