March 9, 2013 - Looks messy
If I was judging Cap, it'd be closer,
But Iron Man wins the day clearly,
I am not certain where this book has intended to go to. Or why in the world it really intended to try and keep writing this. This is flash and mess - and deeply an Image book in the early nineties.
The panels are fun... But the writing is a trash heap. It's very little to stay with. Or keep buying. And the book looks heavy. The lines are very thick.
And the story? Yawnsville. I'm not even too certain who or what or where the story ends - or if the villain is really supposed to die... Or if that's supposed to be him again at the end, or...
This started off great
This Iron Man section was phenomenal. It may be the best comic (section) running right now. The art is vibrant and alive. Frankly, I am not certain why this wasn't acclaimed more highly. Well, I guess that the eventual separation into its own title was a compliment to its direction. And while I am never a real fan of the overstated large printed sound effects, it seemed to really fit within the battle. Great comic.
The Captain America comic was good. Better than the X-O, certainly, but not perfect. I did like the discussion and playing that made Captain America so much more than just his own abilities - the experience and ability to put all of it together into a package that makes him what he is. Thoroughly enjoyable book.
