August 4, 2013 - The BLADES come out.
This was not too bad. And I am a little embarrassed to say that. I hated Ninjak on the first read. Silly premise, a kid... But, well, I am starting to kind of enjoy the whole self fun attitude. It's one of those strategies that doesn't really succeed in the mass market. Remember Anrold Schwarzenegger's Last Action Hero? That movie was halfway decent. This is somewhere in the range of halfway decent. It even starts out with the whole self-deprecating perspective.
Unfortunately, like I said, that doesn't often work.
The story is decent - and starts off better than it finishes. I like him hopping through the Acclaim offices - and it could really have some serious opportunity for real jokes - and perhaps the jokes are a little too inside. The fight starts off well, but by the end the art has deteriorated - and feels too cartoony.
Back to space, eh?
Welcome back to the whole of SOME story. Hulk returns to Earth. Sadly, I am glad that he is fighting an alien from outer space. That is how BAD the stories before here have been.
It isn't bad. In fact, it's kind of a fun irony to see the races destroying themselves. And at least the lines are readable.
This is a comic that really should start with the basic things. A bit of heart. THEN action. Fight, beatings, and back to Banner.
When the comic DEVELOPS this form - it can really be successful. Until then, it might not be as painful as Astonish, but won't be great.
