January 13, 2013 - So much background.
For the up turn
I am picking Rai - uh... Magus
Turns up the heat
One of the first lines of the book indicates that the PSI-Lords are returning to Earth, and I can hear the collective sigh following it. But most of the book is rather good. Even enjoyable.
I loved seeing Rai in there. And see previous entries for my hatred about Takashi - and the wrecking of the new Rai.
But putting Magnus on this new collision again - that's a nice change. Getting him back in touch with his Mom's harbinger ability - actually a nice touch.
It is coming rather as a surprise for me, but Magnus - and RAI - are taking a big turn UP. Looks like I WASN'T left hanging, after all.
Great to see the origin
While the comic paints within the very judgmental view of Africa at the time, it does make Wakanda a relatively wealthy country, and somewhat progressive from some of the information of the other rags of the day.
It quickly leads to Black Panther's origins, and those are rich, indeed. Learning of a father's death, and then taking up the mantle are great.
I also liked the pseudo-science of the sound to matter conversion. While it isn't entirely plausible, it is somewhat realistic - and nice to see the writers making something a bit smaller within the creation scheme of the story. It works well.
