October 10, 2013 - Choices are dark
Not certain how I feel about this one, at all. It sort of feels a lot less confused. It has really streamlined a lot of the story together. It gets rid of many of the voodoo elements, and just sticks with a few - and that makes the story better - but I guess that I keep comparing it to the old Boniface Shadowman.
At least he seems to be getting out from under the whole thumb of Nettie thing. Yes, I said THUMB.
The art has improved, too. And it seems the same flavor, still.
I guess what I am saying is that the writing and art under this direction have really improved, and it still seems at its absolute best - pretty boring. That is saying that the comic really needed to change its direction.
And now... Paste pot PETE!
Okay, he's the TRAPSTER now, but he talks about the insane PASTE gun more than Batman ever talked about his BAT GLUE RAY GUN, so I must make fun of the stupid thing.
Is this really the place that Kirby needs to go to find the replacement? To keep writing this mess - by going back to such a terrible villain?
I like Sharon around - but she doesn't really need to have an LMD around, does she? That is perhaps the worst segment of the whole thing in this era of Marvel comics.
Although, Steve and Sharon are FINALLY getting to spend some time together at the end of the comic - AND he knows her name now, so THAT's some kind of a victory, right?
