December 28, 2011 - What a wonder
Sorry, spotlight. Avengers are MUCH better.
Spotlight of the month?
Yes, that gun is awesome. But the story is a bit lacking. I love when cool characters cross paths, and can go killing spree on each other, but this may not be the best way to jump into it. A lot of flash in this book, but not a bunch of substance.
For a line that bragged so much about its tight timeline, it really is falling apart this month. Scrap all of the insanity within the Deathmate stuff, and much of this is still a train wreck. Both Gilad and Bloodshot are outside the real world, and jumping in the far East and the jungle here. Bleah.
Wonder MAN... See? It's different!
Let me start by saying that Wonder Man is one of my all-time favorite ever characters. Bar none. Fairly and frankly, I have no idea why. It's probably because I followed him all through West Coast Avengers - see a few months ahead - and well into his own series. I even STRUGGLED through all of Force Works - just because the dude was killed for this team. What a sad garbage that was.
But this was a pretty damned good bit of story, this book. FUN one. Character starts out as a villain, then flips as a spy, then flips again - only to see himself die again. Pretty dramatic story - and in this book, I didn't think he'd return. Of course, he will. But for now...
