January 30, 2014 - Clashing controversy
Turok is crap.
Really? What a mess.
This was in the disgusting throes of something sadly juvenile. And as much as the LAST Turok special magazine was supposed to be capitalizing on the game connection - this one felt more like it - and like it was pandering to only that audience.
"I love you. But we must fight." "I have never felt love. Now let's get close together - and slightly suggestive - but then pull apart again." "I, too, can never really love you."
This was bad, bad. Not at all a comic book - and nothing good at all.
This one felt JUST like Contest of Champions
And it wasn't at all a bad thing. Just bringing in s a few references - the characters we'd never seen before, the far off locales, and individual battles - felt a LOT like the set-up. And of course, Grandmaster. The comic was fair. But I don't really know why Kang had to be involved in the whole thing. He seems sort of outside the general flow of it.
The placement of a few of the characters - and even the crazy battles - they felt good. Not just like the crazy clanging. That the comic has found its center again. Even with the relatively quick assembly change from the annuals. And the fact that Black Panther has sort of moved to the outside.
Not really a fan of the Squadron - especially since they were nrever really all together - but it was a fair comic.
