December 22, 2011 - You deal with him
Loved the SOLAR story. Loved.
This book examines the back -story of a relatively minor memory of a character - a Spider-Alien still surviving, but now living in a town. What a strange reality this one is.
The creepiest part of it was the marriage the man had to the woman that he seemed to be just bloodletting to fill his appetite.
SOLAR's darker side is show this book, when he captures the 'man,' then turns him over to the darkest side of their justice. Even now, I shudder a bit.
More than metaphorical, certainly. SOLAR talks about reliance on the tech, and how it made the town complacent. A nice - and completely different - stranger in our midst story.
The goblin returns - better than ever
The book brings back the Green Goblin, and thank goodness it has retired his old broomstick. That thing was quite silly, to say the least. Torch, a regular hero in comic book land, has found an excellent avenue to be successful and adored, so Spider-Man crashes a party - to try and gain the positive attention.
The attention goes awry, and Pete has to leave when battling to be with Aunt May, and ironically, only Flash Thompson stays loyal to Spider-Man.
The book is fair - but not excellent.
